Why the Bible Doesn’t Say “Follow Your Heart”

The Bible doesn’t say “follow your heart.”

Following your heart leads you to destruction‼️

“There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death.” (Proverbs 14:12)

“The heart is deceitful above all things
And it is extremely sick, Who can understand it fully
and know its secret motives? I, the Lord, search and examine the mind, I test the heart, To give to each man according to his ways, According to the results of his deeds.”(Jeremiah 17:9-10) AMP

The word deceitful means to mislead, to trick, or leading others astray through falsehood or fraud, often involving distortion of the truth for personal gain or malicious intent. It also means to manipulate.

The world says to “follow your heart,” BUT THE WORD OF GOD SAYS “He who trusts confidently in his own heart is a [dull, thickheaded] FOOL,

But he who walks in [skillful and godly] wisdom will be rescued.” (Proverbs 28:26)🙌🏼

In The Bible, a fool is considered to be a person who lacks wisdom, understanding, and the fear of God, often leading to destructive behavior and poor choices. In today’s terms, that’s being spiritually stupid.”‼️

Did you know that the KJV version says in Jeremiah 17:9 that the heart is deceitful above all things, AND DESPERATELY WICKED‼️

In other words, desperately wicked, meaning the human heart is inherently flawed and inclined towards sin, deceit, and self-deception.

That phrase suggests a deep-rooted corruption, sometimes translated as "beyond cure" or "incurably sick” or “beyond human repair.”

Jeremiah 17:9 says the heart is DECEITFUL ABOVE ALL THINGS‼️ Meaning, the human heart can cause wrong things to feel “right,” the heart rationalizes sin, justifying disobedience‼️

Justifying disobedience means giving excuses for ignoring God’s commands‼️

Sometimes, it’s self-deception‼️

Other times, it’s twisting God’s will to fit your own agenda‼️

That’s not obedience. That’s rebellion in disguise‼️

And it starts in the heart❤️

God’s word tells us that our inner nature, APART from Him, is NOT trustworthy‼️ WITHOUT theTRANSFORMING POWER of The Holy Spirit, the human heart will lean AWAY from God‼️

We need God’s divine guidance and transformation to live in truth and righteousness. It is ONLY through Him our hearts can be renewed (Ezekiel 36:26).

If you’ve been following your heart, it’s time to ask God for a heart that follows Him.
