Did you know that the skin on your face is 16 layers thick while the skin on your lips is just 3-5 layers thick! Therefore the skin on your lips is extra delicate and extra sensitive so it needs extra care and extra hydration. The Almond Oil I added gets easily absorbed by the lips which helps to nourish your skin and it acts as an emollient, keeping your skin soft, supple and hydrated, another emollient I added is coconut oil. Emollients are non-cosmetic moisturizers that help keep the skin moist, and they’re primarily used to protect the skin. They trap moisture in your skin. Humectants help retain skin moisture by preventing water loss through the outer layer of your skin, that’s why I added Castor Oil. Both sugar and poppy seeds will exfoliate your lips, not only will it remove dead skin cells but it also allows for better penetration of hydrating products. The Lemon oil will act as an effective lightening agent which effectively reduces the dark color on your lips with regular use. CAUTION‼️All citrus oils, like lemon and grapefruit, make the skin more sensitive to sunlight. It is essential to AVOID sun exposure for several hours after using citrus essential oils, so it is wise to apply this scrub preferably before bed.
